South Africa vs India Second Test: Simon Harmer’s Six-Wicket Haul Seals Historic 408-Run Win | Gulf Repost

South Africa vs India Second Test

South Africa vs India Second Test ended in a stunning and historic result as the visitors crushed India by 408 runs, completing a 2-0 series sweep and securing their first Test series win on Indian soil in 25 years. Off-spinner Simon Harmer delivered a sensational spell, claiming 6-37, to bundle India out for a modest 140 on the final day in Guwahati.

This defeat marked India’s biggest Test loss by runs in their history and their fifth defeat in seven home Tests, raising questions over the team’s recent form.

Historic Test Series Win for South Africa

South Africa’s victory was only their second Test series triumph in India, the last being in 2000 under former captain Hansie Cronje.

The visitors came into the final day needing just 10 wickets, and they delivered a disciplined bowling performance driven by Harmer’s relentless accuracy and sharp turn.

Left-arm pacer Marco Jansen, who smashed a crucial 93 in the first innings and took 6-48 earlier in the match, was named Player of the Match.
He said: “Winning a Test match and series in India is very special… everyone stepped up to make this happen.”

India’s Struggle on Home Soil Continues

Led by captain Rishabh Pant, the Indian team looked out of rhythm throughout the match. Pant admitted the side failed to capitalise on key moments, saying:
“As a batting unit we needed to step up. We didn’t do that.”

India’s collapse began early in the day when Kuldeep Yadav and Dhruv Jurel were removed in quick succession. Despite a fighting 54 from Ravindra Jadeja, the team never looked close to chasing the enormous target of 549.
