Smriti-Palash Wedding Row: Woman at Centre of Controversy Issues Detailed Clarification

Smriti-Palash wedding row continues to dominate social media conversations after the wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal was postponed. What began as a delay attributed to the ill health of Mandhana’s father soon escalated into widespread online speculation, fuelled by alleged leaked chat screenshots involving Palash.

In the midst of viral rumours, one name circulated prominently — Mary D’Costa — who was accused of exchanging personal messages with Palash months before the planned wedding. As the speculation spiralled, Mary found herself unfairly targeted online, prompting her to finally break her silence and clarify her side of the story.

Mary D’Costa Says Old Chats Misinterpreted; Denies Wrongdoing

Before switching her social media accounts to private, Mary explained that she was the one who initially posted the screenshots, believing it was important for “the truth to be known.” She also emphasised that the chats were from May to July 2025 — unrelated to the current postponement.

According to a post shared by paparazzo Viral Bhayani, Mary clarified that:

  • She never met Palash

  • Their chats lasted just one month

  • She never engaged in anything inappropriate

  • She was not the woman involved in the couple’s wedding choreography

  • She was the one who ghosted him, not vice versa

Emotional Note Pleading Not to Be Targeted

Mary expressed distress over being dragged into the controversy, writing:

“I am the same person who posted the chats. I never wanted my identity revealed. The chats were from May–July 2025. I never met him or got involved with him. I admire Smriti Mandhana and felt people should know.”

She added:

“I didn’t expect this backlash and had to make my account private… Please don’t target me; I genuinely cannot handle it.”

Her posts highlighted that the chat screenshots clearly showed she did not encourage any misconduct. Instead, she reiterated that she removed herself from the interaction early on.

How the Rumours Started

Mary’s name began circulating after social media claims suggested she was the choreographer for the couple’s wedding performances. Further speculation grew after alleged leaked messages showed Palash reportedly calling his relationship with Smriti “almost dead” and “long-distance.” These messages triggered an online storm, pushing Mary into the spotlight despite her minimal involvement.

She ended her clarification with a final plea:

“I would never do anything wrong to any woman, whether she is famous or not. I request everyone not to target me… I truly did not think I would have to go through this.”

The Online Reaction

The controversy has sparked intense debate across social media platforms, with many users questioning the validity of the leaked chats and others urging caution in spreading unverified rumours. Fans of Smriti Mandhana have expressed concern for the couple’s privacy, while several users extended support to Mary for speaking up amid the harassment.
