Ajman Police intensifies crackdown on unlicensed driving with fines up to Dh100,000 and strict enforcement in 2025, emphasizing public safety and adherence to new Federal Decree-Law No. (14) of 2024 on Traffic Regulation. The two-month campaign highlights that driving without a valid license or with an unrecognized foreign license is a serious violation with severe consequences including jail time and hefty fines.

Under UAE law, residents must hold a UAE-issued license — foreign or international licenses lose validity once residency is obtained. Penalties start with fines between Dh5,000 and Dh50,000 and/or imprisonment up to three months for first offenses. Repeat offenders face harsher sanctions including fines up to Dh100,000 and mandatory jail terms. Vehicle impoundment accompanies these penalties.

Lt. Col. Fouad Al Khaja of Ajman Police stressed the campaign’s dual focus on awareness and enforcement, especially targeting young drivers to curb risk-taking behaviour on the roads and prevent accidents. Ajman recorded 24,480 unlicensed driving violations recently, underscoring the urgency to act. The campaign aims to foster a responsible driving culture and protect all road users across Ajman.
