The rules further prohibit flaunting lineage, tribe, or regional identity in online posts, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s intent to foster respectful and truthful digital discourse.
Regulations stretch beyond language and subject matter to appearance: clothing that exposes the body from shoulders to legs, tight attire accentuating the figure, and sheer fabrics are all banned for social media content. This is designed to maintain content quality and uphold public decency standards on Saudi-based accounts.
The authorities warned of hefty penalties for violations, sending a clear message about the consequences of ignoring these new standards, although specific punishment details were not disclosed.
