The iconic Dubai Fountain renovation reopening at Burj Khalifa Lake , with a highly anticipated reopening set for October 1, 2025. Managed by Emaar, the world’s largest performing fountain has been temporarily closed since April 2025 to undergo essential upgrades that will enhance its performance, durability, and visitor experience.
One of the most significant upgrades is the installation of a brand-new, more durable flooring system beneath the fountain. The previous surface had developed cracks, making the enhancement critical. The new floor includes a waterproofing layer, primer, insulation for improved water retention, and striking blue tiles that glow under the water, creating an even more breathtaking visual spectacle.
Since its debut in May 2009, the Dubai Fountain has dazzled millions with synchronized water, light, and music shows. Spanning 275 meters and set in a lake the size of 18 football fields, the fountain’s complex system includes robotic arms, water jets, and lights all working in harmony.
Each performance is choreographed meticulously, with songs taking weeks to program. Water jets can shoot as high as 140 meters, dancing to both Arabic and international music beats, captivating audiences at The Dubai Mall Waterfront Promenade.
The renovation also involves enhancing maintenance operations. With a lake depth of about 1.3 meters, the fountain is shallow enough for efficient upkeep. Underwater robots help scrub the lakebed, and water quality is regularly monitored. The new flooring is designed to accelerate cleaning processes, ensuring the fountain remains pristine and vibrant.
Emaar confirms the Dubai Fountain will return to dazzling audiences from October 1, 2025. The lake has already been refilled with water, and major visible elements like the giant screens have been removed or upgraded in preparation for the grand reopening.
Visitors can look forward to enjoying one of the world’s most spectacular water shows, now enhanced for greater durability and visual impact.
