Dubai International Airport (DXB) has claimed its spot as the world’s 5th most connected Dubai International Airport low-cost carrier hub 2025, leading the Middle East region, according to the latest OAG Megahubs 2025 report. The study highlights Dubai’s strong growth in budget travel, driven primarily by flydubai’s expanding network, which accounts for 28% of flights and has fueled a 4% year-on-year increase in LCC connections.

Dual Role as Premium Gateway and Low-Cost Hub

DXB also ranks 15th in the world among the most internationally connected airports, climbing one place from last year. Emirates remains the dominant carrier at DXB with a 38% share of flights, reinforcing the airport’s reputation as a dual hub for premium and budget travelers alike.

Regional and Global Rankings

Within the Middle East, Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, home to Etihad Airways, ranks 6th regionally. Istanbul Airport ascended to 2nd place globally in connectivity, driven by Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight share, while Doha, Riyadh, and Johannesburg round out the regional top five.

Globally, London Heathrow remains the most connected airport, with Kuala Lumpur and Amsterdam Schiphol among the top international hubs. The ongoing shifts in air travel reveal growing strength in Asian and European megahubs.
