Dubai KHDA TECOM higher education partnership 2025 marks a strategic move to bolster the emirate’s status as a global learning hub.
Dubai is set to transform urban mobility with the launch of its Self-Driving Transport Zone, spanning key areas including Dubai Festival City, Creek, and Al Jaddaf. The project integrates a variety of autonomous transport modes to create a seamless and efficient urban transit network, positioning Dubai as a global leader in smart city initiatives.
The 12-square-kilometer zone will feature a diverse mix of autonomous vehicles. Robobuses and Roboshuttles will cover 20 kilometers on roads, while autonomous Roboboats will navigate 10 kilometers of waterways. Delivery robots will operate over 3.8 kilometers, facilitating efficient last-mile logistics for businesses and residents alike.
Residents and visitors will also benefit from Robotaxis, light-duty Robovans, and Robosweepers, all complementing the driverless Metro system. This integrated approach ensures a user-friendly and comprehensive autonomous transport ecosystem.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has collaborated with leading technology firms such as WeRide, Baidu (Apollo Go), and Pony.ai to implement these services. Around 60 autonomous taxis are currently undergoing pilot testing in select areas, with full-scale Robotaxi operations expected to launch in early 2026.
This initiative aligns with Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy 2025–2040, which aims to increase the share of trips made via autonomous transport from 20.4% in 2025 to 25% by 2030 and 36% by 2040. By embracing cutting-edge technology and sustainable urban planning, Dubai is setting a benchmark for the cities of the future.
