Asia Cup 2025 Suryakumar Yadav batting struggles continue to cast a shadow over India’s march to the final. Despite leading the team unbeaten into the final stage, the captain’s batting form has been inconsistent and underwhelming since he took over the role from Rohit Sharma in July 2024.
Known for his explosive style, Yadav’s last major innings came in October 2024 with a century against Bangladesh and a quick 75 in Hyderabad. However, since then, runs have been scarce. In 19 innings as captain, Yadav has scored just 329 runs at an average of 19.35, with only two fifties and a strike rate above 145. In 2025 alone, he has managed 99 runs in 10 innings, averaging 12.37 with a strike rate around 110.
At the ongoing Asia Cup, his performance has been modest, scoring 71 runs in five innings with an average of 23.66 and a strike rate just over 100. His recent outing against Sri Lanka saw him struggle for 12 runs before being dismissed lbw. Given the high stakes in the upcoming final against Pakistan, the pressure on Yadav to rediscover his batting touch is immense.
While the team remains a strong contender for the title, Yadav’s form will be a critical factor in India’s success. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see the captain lead from the front when it matters most
