Emirates power bank ban 2025 brings major changes for all passengers traveling from October 1 onward. Under new safety regulations, the use of any type of power bank onboard Emirates flights is strictly prohibited. Only one power bank under 100Wh may be carried in cabin baggage—with clear capacity labeling—and must be stored under the seat or in the seat pocket, not in overhead bins or checked luggage.
Passengers are not allowed to recharge their devices using their own power banks, nor can power banks themselves be recharged using the aircraft’s power supply. Emirates provides in-seat charging and urges all travelers to fully charge their electronic devices before boarding, particularly for long-haul flights.
The ban comes after a safety review highlighted the rising global aviation risk from lithium battery incidents. Power banks, if damaged or overcharged, can undergo “thermal runaway,” potentially resulting in fire or explosion. By moving power banks to accessible locations and prohibiting their use onboard, Emirates aims to help cabin crew respond rapidly to emergencies—ensuring passenger safety remains a top priority.
