In a dramatic early morning operation, Delhi Police arrested two alleged shooters from the Goldy Brar gang who were plotting to kill stand-up comedian and influencer Munawar Faruqui. Acting on detailed intelligence, officers set a trap near New Friends Colony on Jaitpur–Kalindi Kunj Road around 3 a.m.
When the suspects, identified as Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani in Haryana, were stopped, they opened fire. Police returned fire during the ensuing gun battle, injuring both men in their legs before taking them into custody. The assailants were hospitalized for treatment, and firearms along with the motorcycle used in the attack were seized.
Investigators revealed that Rahul and Sahil acted under the orders of Rohit Godara, a foreign-based criminal working with gang leaders Goldy Brar and Virender Charan. The suspects had conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru to track Faruqui’s movements. Rahul is also wanted in connection with a triple murder in Yamunanagar, Haryana, dating back to December 2024.
Authorities hail the arrests as a significant breakthrough in preventing a high-profile murder attempt and exposing organized crime networks targeting celebrities. The police caution that investigations continue, and elements of the criminal network may still be active.
