The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has introduced a new comprehensive Guide for Governance of UAE university work experience guidelines 2025 for students at higher education institutions (HEIs), including universities and vocational training centers. Replacing the term ‘practical training’ with ‘work experience,’ the guide formalizes this as a core academic requirement to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world skills.
Taif Mohamed Alamiri, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Regulation and Governance, emphasized that the guide establishes a clear, practical framework benefiting all involved stakeholders—including institutions, providers, and students—while aligning with global best practices for educational governance.
The unified national framework defines roles and responsibilities: universities must develop clear work experience plans and assign supervisors; providers are required to ensure safe, professional workplaces with qualified mentors; and students must maintain professionalism and document their activities in certified records.
The MoHESR will monitor implementation rigorously with field visits and evaluations in partnership with local and federal entities, solidifying work experience as a national priority and key investment in the country’s future workforce readiness.
