Oasis Guitar Sells for $385,000 at Auction

In a remarkable turn of events, the iconic cherry-red Gibson ES-355 guitar, once owned by Noel Gallagher of the British rock band Oasis, has been sold at auction for £289,800 (approximately $385,000). This guitar holds significant historical value, having been damaged by Noel’s brother and bandmate, Liam Gallagher, during a backstage altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in 2009.

The incident led to the cancellation of the band’s performance and ultimately marked the end of Oasis’s original lineup. The guitar was later repaired and has since become a symbol of the band’s tumultuous history.

The auction, conducted by Propstore in London, featured over 400 items of music memorabilia, including handwritten lyrics by Noel Gallagher, which sold for £75,600, and a pair of sunglasses worn by Elvis Presley, which fetched £75,600. Despite the guitar’s rich history and significance, it sold below its pre-auction estimate of £500,000.
