Sharjah City Municipality, supported by the Sharjah Executive Council, has launched a generous relief initiative offering a 50% discount on fees for attesting old, unattested lease contracts across the emirate. This measure applies to all types of lease agreements—residential, commercial, industrial, and investment—that expired before the enactment of the Sharjah Lease Regulation Law of 2024. The relief effort includes a full waiver of administrative fines and penalties associated with late or missing attestation.
The two-month window from November 1 to December 31, 2025, allows landlords and tenants to regularise their lease status through authorized attestation centres or the “Aqari” digital platform with the discounted fees automatically applied in the system, eliminating the need to visit municipality offices or request special permissions. Failure to act by the deadline will mean returning to original fees and potential penalties starting January 1, 2026.
Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service at Sharjah Municipality, emphasized the government’s understanding of financial burdens and commitment to supporting residents and investors. He highlighted the legal importance of attested contracts in safeguarding landlord and tenant rights, promoting transparency, and preventing disputes.
This initiative encourages all property owners and tenants in Sharjah to take advantage of the opportunity to comply legally and foster an organized, transparent rental market that aligns with the emirate’s sustainable development goals.
