False Golden Visa Offer

An Asian businessman in Abu Dhabi was convicted for defrauding a man by promising to secure a golden residency visa in exchange for Dh6,000. The victim paid the amount but received no visa progress. When confronted, the fraudster returned only Dh1,500 and withheld the balance, leading the victim to file a police report.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendant, who was initially sentenced in absentia to one month in jail, fined Dh6,000, and ordered deported. However, following an out-of-court settlement and the victim dropping the case, the court revoked the deportation order and suspended the jail sentence, enforcing the Dh6,000 fine only.
