For professionals and students who have completed higher education abroad, getting a foreign university degree recognised in the UAE is essential for employment, licensing, and postgraduate studies. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has simplified the process with clear guidelines and digital services available online.
The first step is confirming that your university is accredited by the relevant educational authority in the country where it’s based. Applicants should also ensure their degree is officially attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in that country, followed by attestation at the UAE embassy or consulate.
Applicants must visit the Ministry of Education’s online service platform and create an account. Through the “Equivalency Services” section, users can upload their degree certificates, transcripts, passport copy, and other required documents.
The system automatically reviews eligibility and may request additional information, such as course details or university status.
Once the documents are submitted, the Commission for Academic Accreditation verifies the authenticity of the degree, the mode of study, and the university’s international recognition.
If the institution or program doesn’t meet the UAE’s standards, applicants may be asked to provide additional clarifications or documents before approval.
After approval, applicants receive an official Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education. This certificate confirms that the degree is recognised and equivalent to UAE standards. The document can be downloaded digitally or requested as a printed copy for official use.

Depending on the complexity of the case, the process typically takes 10 to 15 working days. Fees vary based on the qualification level and the type of degree.
A recognised foreign degree allows professionals to apply for UAE government positions, private sector roles requiring licensed qualifications, and postgraduate programs at UAE universities.
