Emirati earthquake relief Afghanistan - Gulf Repost

Following the recent devastating earthquake in northern Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates has swiftly dispatched a joint relief team to the affected region under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The mission is led by representatives from the UAE’s Joint Operations Command, the UAE Aid Agency and the Emirates Red Crescent.

On arrival in the impacted area, the team began immediate field assessments in coordination with Afghan authorities and international humanitarian partners. Their goal is to enhance the effectiveness of relief operations, provide logistical support, and deliver direct assistance to the most affected communities. Simultaneously, the UAE has launched an urgent air-bridge to northern Afghanistan, deploying four aircraft carrying essential relief supplies, medical equipment and shelter tents. Some additional supplies are being procured locally within Afghanistan to bolster response speed.

The UAE’s rapid intervention underscores its longstanding commitment to international humanitarian support, especially in times of crisis. With the earthquake having caused widespread damage and displaced families, the Emirati aid initiative aims to alleviate suffering, support injured individuals and reinforce recovery efforts for affected households across remote and high-altitude areas.
