Barcelona Instagram crypto scam surfaced recently when the globally followed official FC Barcelona account, with 144 million followers, was reportedly hacked to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency named “$FCB” on the Solana blockchain. The compromised posts went viral quickly with numerous likes and shares before being taken down, and the account was restored soon after.
Mirroring a similar crypto scam that targeted Disney fans through a fake “Disney Solana” coin earlier in October 2025, this attack exposed thousands of potential victims to significant financial losses through deception.
Experts and crypto watchdogs advise users to avoid any interaction with the suspicious $FCB coin, warning against connecting wallets or purchasing the token. They recommend verifying cryptocurrency initiatives only through official channels and exercising skepticism towards unsolicited online offers.
Solana’s ecosystem has seen a rise in meme coin scams, phishing attacks, and rug pulls causing substantial investor harm, often involving manipulative trading and fraudulent wallet access attempts. Utilizing secure hardware wallets and in-depth project research are critical precautions.
This incident underscores the growing need for vigilance in the rapidly evolving DeFi and crypto space, especially when high-profile accounts are exploited to sway unsuspecting investors.
