Filipino tennis star 2025 continue to make waves on the international circuit, led by the impressive performance of 20-year-old Alex Eala. At the WTA 125 Suzhou Open in China, Eala overcame a resilient challenge from Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa (World No 124) in a marathon three-set match that lasted over two hours.
Eala, currently ranked World No 58 and seeded fourth, started strong by breaking away late in the first set before rain delayed play. Upon resumption, she wrapped up the set 6-3. Kawa fought back in the second set with a 6-3 win, forcing a tense final set. With scores tied multiple times, Eala’s grit saw her clinch the final set 7-5, sealing a hard-fought victory.
This win follows Eala’s recent semi-final run at the Jingshan Open and her first professional title victory in Guadalajara, marking a surge in Filipino tennis prowess. Her next opponent is Belgium’s Greet Minnen (World No 106) in the round of 16.
Alex Eala’s continued success is a beacon for Filipino tennis stars in 2025, showcasing skill, resilience, and rising international stature.
