Pakistan Test squad South Africa October 2025 reveals the inclusion of left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who returns after missing the earlier West Indies series. Shan Masood will captain the 18-member side as Pakistan kicks off their ICC World Test Championship campaign at home.
The squad includes top performers such as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan along with three uncapped players expected to make their Test debuts: Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir. Naseem Shah is notably absent from the selection.
The two-Test match series is scheduled to begin on October 12 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium with the second Test taking place in Rawalpindi from October 20 to 24. The series will be followed by a white-ball tour including T20 internationals and ODIs, with squads for those formats to be announced later.
Pre-series training camps start early October, and the players from the recently concluded Asia Cup will join the squad ahead of the first Test. This series marks the beginning of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
