This Diwali, fashion shifts from flashy glitter to a refined, quiet luxury with just the right touch of drama, says Dubai-based designer Varoin Marwah. The festive season style is all about timeless, elegant pieces with rich textures and standout silhouettes that captivate without overwhelming.

Marwah highlights trending colors including the versatile mocha mousse and the unexpected festive favorite, burnt red, which pairs beautifully with gold and ivory. Textures like layered fabrics and geometric patterns are in vogue, with long-line bandhgalas, asymmetric kurtas, and tailored yet comfortable trousers leading the silhouettes.

“Biggest fashion mistake is going overboard with bling,” Marwah warns. “Head-to-toe shimmer often feels forced. Instead, balance a standout piece—like a jewel-toned jacket or textured kurta—with simpler elements.” Fabrics that breathe, such as linen with metallic threads and lightweight crepes, paired with chic loafers or traditional juttis, blend comfort with festive elegance.

For subtle styling, Marwah suggests monotone kurta-pajamas layered with textured stoles or embroidered jackets, accented by metallic footwear or statement watches for effortless festive chic. Looking back, Marwah emphasizes evolving from heavy sequins to understated shimmer with matte sequins and micro-embroidery that capture sparkle without excess.

The hero look for Diwali 2025 is the earthy neutral bandhgalajacket with tonal embroidery and slim trousers — a versatile and powerful ensemble perfect from pujas to evening celebrations.

For Varoin Marwah, Diwali fashion is about evolving tradition with modern glamour to create lasting memories and meaningful connections.
