At just 19, Dhravya Shah, a middle-class teenager from Mumbai, has made significant strides in the tech world. His AI startup, Supermemory, recently secured $2.6 million in seed funding, attracting notable investors such as Google AI chief Jeff Dean and DeepMind’s Logan Kilpatrick.
Shah’s journey began with a simple laptop gifted by his parents, which became his gateway to coding and developing bots. One of his early successes was selling a bot that transformed tweets into polished screenshots to the social media tool Hypefury. This venture funded his move to the United States to study at Arizona State University.
However, Shah chose to drop out of college to focus on his passion for AI. He relocated to San Francisco and embarked on a personal challenge to build something new every week for 40 weeks. This led to the creation of Supermemory, a platform designed to enhance the long-term memory of AI models by extracting insights from unstructured data like documents, chats, and emails.
Supermemory’s innovative approach has garnered attention from various AI applications, including email clients and video editors. The startup’s seed funding round was led by Susa Ventures, Browder Capital, and SF1.vc, with participation from investors such as Cloudflare’s Dane Knecht, Jeff Dean, Logan Kilpatrick, and Sentry founder David Cramer.
Shah’s story exemplifies the power of perseverance and innovation, highlighting how a young entrepreneur from Mumbai is making waves in the global AI landscape.
