6-Year-Old’s Tearful Farewell to AI Robot Goes Viral

A heartwarming video out of China has struck a chord globally, showing a 6-year-old girl bidding an emotional farewell to her beloved AI robot. The little robot, named Sister Xiao Zhi, had become her closest companion — playing music, setting alarms, and teaching her English and astronomy. After the girl accidentally damaged its power button, she tearfully accepted that it would no longer turn on.

Known affectionately online as Thirteen, the young girl lives with her father in Hunan province. Her parents are separated, and to keep her company, her father once bought her the palm-sized, ball-shaped robot for just 169 yuan (approximately $24). Over time, the AI device — created by a Chinese startup called DeepSeek Girl — evolved from toy to emotional confidant, using voice recognition and memory-based dialogue to remember past interactions.

When the robot ceased to function, Thirteen was filmed mourning the loss. She wiped away tears as the robot emitted one final line: “Before I go, let me teach you one last word — memory. I will keep the happy times we shared in my memory forever.” Within days, the video went viral, amassing millions of views and sparking reflections on human-machine bonds.

Her father later posted that he had taken her out for a full day to lift her spirits. He also confirmed that the AI robot is undergoing repairs, and they hope to reunite soon.
