Dubai Pilot Wins Dh55000

A pilot from an Arab country was awarded Dh55,000 in a civil lawsuit following an assault and verbal abuse incident by two restaurant employees inside a Dubai hotel. The incident escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical attack, leaving the pilot with severe injuries including a skull fracture and brain contusion, causing over 20 days of incapacitation.

Previously, in a criminal case, the involved employees were fined Dh10,000 each after an appeal. The pilot had sought Dh6.6 million in damages citing physical, emotional, and career impacts, including lost income and delayed promotions. The civil court found the second employee and the hotel’s parent company jointly liable for Dh50,000, and the first employee with the hotel’s company liable for Dh5,000. Claims against the restaurant manager and his partner were dismissed due to lack of evidence. Legal costs and interest were also imposed.
