Celebrated Indian author and philanthropist Sudha Murthy was spotted strolling through Dubai’s historic Gold Souq on International Teacher’s Day, October 5, 2025. In a video shared by the Instagram page Agents of Action, Murthy reflected on the profound role of teachers beyond academics, urging them to instill values of hard work, resilience, and compassion in their students.
Murthy cited the Indian teaching ethos “Acharya Devo Bhava,” meaning teachers are regarded as equivalent to God, underscoring teachers’ esteemed position after mother and father in shaping young lives.
Widely respected as an educator, writer, engineer, and public speaker, Murthy has authored more than 40 books including bestsellers like Three Thousand Stitches, Dollar Bahu, and Wise and Otherwise, along with beloved children’s titles such as Grandma’s Bag of Stories and Gopi Diaries.
She is also the Founder-Chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and married to Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy.
