Diljit Dosanjh confronts racism

Punjabi music sensation Diljit Dosanjh has addressed a barrage of racist comments he faced upon arriving in Australia ahead of a sold‑out concert in Sydney. As part of his ongoing AURA world tour, the artist revealed that paparazzi photos were accompanied by derogatory online remarks, with viewers mocking his ethnicity by likening him to a “cab driver” or “7‑Eleven worker.”

Despite the negativity, Dosanjh responded with composure and empathy, stating that he does not mind being compared to roles such as cab or truck drivers, pointing out that these workers are essential to society. “If truck drivers stop working, you won’t get bread at home,” he said. He emphasized that rather than harbouring anger, he offers his “love to everyone — even those who say things like that about me.”

The artist used the moment to call for unity beyond borders, saying he believed in a world without divisions. The revelation coincided with a major milestone: his Sydney concert at the CommBank Stadium marked the first time an Indian artist sold out such a venue, drawing an estimated 30,000 fans.
