Al Qasimi Palace in Ras Al Khaimah, once known as the “Haunted Palace,” has been restored from a long-neglected state to a stunning masterpiece of Islamic, Moroccan, Persian, and Indian craftsmanship. Built between 1980 and 1991 by the late Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi at an estimated cost of Dh500 million, the palace combines exquisite marble, handcrafted tiles, frescoes, and chandeliers sourced from Europe.

For decades, rumors of ghostly presences and jinn surrounded the palace, fueled by vandalism and its abandoned condition. Family objections to the palace’s lifelike sculptures and figurative art led to it being uninhabited, further fostering eerie legends.

Purchased in 2019 by businessman and art collector Tareq Ahmad Al Sharhan, the palace underwent meticulous restoration, reviving its gardens, interiors, murals, and unique architectural features. Reopened as Al Qasr Al Ghamedh (meaning “The Palace of Ambiguity”), it now welcomes visitors daily, offering a glimpse into its rich artistic heritage.

The palace sits on a 200,000-square-foot hilltop with 35 rooms across four storeys and features Thassos marble—renowned for purity and coolness—as well as a glass pyramid roof channeling sunlight.

Currently, the historic landmark is listed for sale at Dh25 million, with ownership restricted to Emirati nationals according to Ras Al Khaimah property regulations. The seller emphasizes that the palace’s cultural and historical significance demands an owner who truly values its legacy.
