Apple is preparing to launch iOS 26.1 in early November 2025, following the initial iOS 26 release in mid-September. The update focuses on refining the bold Liquid Glass design language introduced with iOS 26, improving usability, enhancing security, and addressing user feedback.
Key features in iOS 26.1 include:
Music controls: The Apple Music mini-player will support swipe gestures to skip songs.
UI customization: Users can toggle Liquid Glass between a more transparent “Clear” mode and a more readable “Tinted” mode under Settings → Display & Brightness.
Security enhancements: A new “Background Security Improvements” toggle will automatically install critical security patches without interrupting users.
Translation and language expansion: iOS 26.1 adds support for more languages in Live Translation for AirPods and Apple Intelligence, improving accessibility.
UI tweaks: Updates to the Phone app keypad, Photos video scrubber, and Calendar event list view enhance the overall user experience.
Alarm redesign: The Clock app introduces a “slide to stop” alarm feature to reduce accidental dismissals.
The update is expected for public release around November 3 or 4 and aims to polish the extensive changes brought by iOS 26 while making the iPhone experience smoother, smarter, and more secure.
