Dubai Municipality Project Management Course

Dubai Municipality has officially announced its new Project Management Experts Programme, offering free training designed specifically for Emiratis with experience in the construction sector. This initiative is part of the national campaign, “The UAE: The Startup Capital of the World,” aimed at empowering local talents and advancing Dubai’s construction industry.

The programme seeks to certify 500 Emiratis over the next five years. It targets both young professionals and retired citizens who bring valuable expertise in construction. Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the importance of utilizing the knowledge and experience of UAE nationals to strengthen the sector.

“We are harnessing the expertise of our Emirati citizens, including both active professionals and retirees, to enhance construction project management across Dubai,” said Bin Ghalita during the announcement.

Empowering Emiratis to Manage Residential Construction Projects

This specialized training will equip participants with the skills to efficiently supervise residential construction projects from initiation to completion. It focuses on enabling project managers to support homeowners throughout the building process, minimizing common challenges such as overspending or poor planning.

“Building a house is complex—it needs planning, effort, and finances. Our goal is to prepare project managers who can guide homeowners properly and save them from unnecessary difficulties,” Bin Ghalita explained.

Creating Opportunities in a Growing Construction Market

With over 9,000 houses currently under construction in Dubai, the demand for qualified project management specialists is high. The programme offers Emiratis a pathway to gain accredited certification, enabling them to manage residential construction projects independently or eventually launch their own project management firms.

“This initiative lowers the entry barriers for Emiratis keen to start their careers in construction project management without needing extensive infrastructure or resources,” Bin Ghalita said.

Strategic Vision Behind the Initiative

The Project Management Experts Programme aligns with the UAE’s broader ambition to establish itself as a global startup hub by 2030. The campaign expects over 50 public and private sector entities to collaborate in fostering entrepreneurship, creating 30,000 new jobs, and attracting 10,000 entrepreneurs nationwide.

This initiative not only provides sustainable income opportunities for Emiratis but also ensures the availability of certified professionals to oversee high-quality construction projects that benefit the wider community.
