Dubai schools influenza guidelines 2025 aim to curb rising flu cases with stringent health measures. Parents are urged to keep sick children at home and allow return only after being symptom-free for 24 hours without medication. The flu season in the UAE runs from September to March, during which authorities recommend vaccination as the most effective prevention.
Dr Mirrah Agha Kandil of GEMS Education highlights prevention as better than cure, with schools promoting hand hygiene, cough etiquette, nutrition, exercise, and rest to strengthen immunity. GEMS provides annual flu shots to staff and supports families through the GEMS Rewards programme.
Symptoms requiring home rest include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Vaccination is available through government and private healthcare centers in Dubai.
Schools emphasize proper hygiene like handwashing and respiratory etiquette and reassure parents that illness-related absences will not affect academic progress, offering catch-up mechanisms.
