As these Global South blocs continue to assert their influence, they are reshaping global power dynamics and challenging the traditional Western-led order.

In recent years, emerging alliances from the Global South, such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), have been gaining prominence on the international stage. These blocs, comprising nations like China, Russia, India, and others, are challenging the long-standing dominance of Western powers by advocating for a more equitable and multipolar global order.
At the 2025 Shanghai Summit in Tianjin, leaders from these countries emphasized the need for a balanced international partnership, rejecting unilateral dominance and promoting a system based on justice and multipolarity. This summit highlighted the growing cohesion among Global South nations, united by shared interests and mutual trust.
The SCO, in particular, stands out with a combined population of approximately 3.4 billion people and economies representing a quarter of global output. This bloc advocates for a fairer global trading system and seeks to reform international institutions to better serve the interests of its member states.
As these Global South blocs continue to assert their influence, they are reshaping global power dynamics and challenging the traditional Western-led order. Their efforts signal a shift towards a more inclusive and multipolar world.
