In a landmark move for workplace inclusivity, Karnataka has introduced paid menstrual leave for women, allowing one day off per month. This policy, effective from October 2025, applies to both government and private sector employees, granting women up to 12 extra paid leave days annually.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah described the initiative as “a step towards a more humane, understanding, and inclusive workplace,” highlighting the state’s commitment to women’s health and dignity. Karnataka, home to Bengaluru and a growing female workforce, has been proactive in promoting gender-sensitive employment policies.
