Ras Al Khaimah air taxi service will revolutionize UAE mobility by connecting RAK with Dubai in just 15 minutes, transforming travel across emirates. The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has officially partnered with American company Joby Aviation and British firm Skyports Infrastructure to introduce a cutting-edge electric air taxi service by 2027.

This pioneering initiative will reduce travel time between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai from over an hour by road to under 15 minutes via electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The announcement was made under the patronage of Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, as part of RAK’s vision outlined in its Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2030.

A New Era for Ras Al Khaimah Transportation

Joby Aviation will provide and operate its advanced eVTOL aircraft capable of speeds up to 321 km/h (200 mph) with a quiet, zero-emission footprint. Meanwhile, Skyports will develop specialized vertiport infrastructures, starting with a strategic hub on Al Marjan Island. RAKTA will ensure seamless integration and regulatory standards for the service within Ras Al Khaimah’s transport network.

The air taxis will enhance connectivity to key destinations including Al Marjan Island—home to the upcoming Wynn Al Marjan resort—and Jebel Jais, the UAE’s tallest peak, boosting the emirate’s tourism appeal and supporting UAE’s broader sustainable urban mobility goals.

Expanding UAE’s Leadership in Advanced Air Mobility

Following Joby’s anticipated passenger flight operations in Dubai in 2026, Ras Al Khaimah’s new air taxi corridor will strengthen the UAE’s position as a regional leader in innovative, low-emission transport solutions. This service aligns with global trends demanding faster, greener transit options, positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a hub for economic growth and environmental stewardship.

Ras Al Khaimah’s air taxi initiative exemplifies the emirate’s ambition to lead on smart mobility and sustainability by 2027, making inter-emirate travel faster, cleaner, and more efficient.
