The incident occurred as the aircraft was preparing to land, when passengers are required to keep seat belts fastened.
The passenger, who was en route to Malaysia via Colombo, became aggressive after cabin crew tried to stop him from using the lavatory during descent. A video circulating on social media shows a tense struggle with crew and passengers attempting to restrain him. The pilot promptly alerted ground authorities, leading to his arrest by airport police.
Sri Lankan authorities are conducting a joint investigation with the Airport Tourist Police, and the suspect is scheduled to appear before Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 01. The incident underscores strict security measures on flights and the importance of passenger discipline.
