A 28-year-old Saudi national was detained upon landing at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after physically assaulting two flight attendants on SriLankan Airlines flight UL266 from Riyadh to Colombo on October 26. The incident occurred as the aircraft was preparing to land, when passengers are required to keep seat belts fastened.

The passenger, who was en route to Malaysia via Colombo, became aggressive after cabin crew tried to stop him from using the lavatory during descent. The pilot promptly alerted ground authorities, leading to his arrest by airport police.

Sri Lankan authorities are conducting a joint investigation with the Airport Tourist Police, and the suspect is scheduled to appear before Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 01. The incident underscores strict security measures on flights and the importance of passenger discipline.
