UAE Higher Education Rules in Ajman to Ensure Quality

The UAE higher education rules (HEIs) in Ajman to ensure academic quality and proper accreditation. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the General Secretariat of the Executive Council – Ajman, creating a unified framework for licensing and accreditation of universities and colleges operating within the emirate.

Under this agreement, all HEIs in Ajman must obtain ministry licensing to operate, and their academic programs require ministry accreditation to guarantee official recognition of degrees. The partnership seeks to standardize procedures, facilitate data sharing, and strengthen joint oversight to uphold rigorous governance and quality benchmarks across institutions.

Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the UAE’s vision for collaborative educational governance that aligns academic offerings with national priorities and labor market needs. This move aims to foster continuous improvement and integrate Ajman’s higher education landscape with the UAE’s broader national development goals.

Ajman’s Secretary-General of the Executive Council, Dr Saeed Saif Al Matrooshi, affirmed that this collaboration supports the directives of Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, to elevate education quality and empower national talent in line with Ajman Vision 2030 and the UAE’s sustainable development strategies.

The MoU will streamline audit processes and reinforce HEIs’ readiness to contribute effectively to sustainable development, ensuring Ajman-based institutions offer education that meets the highest standards and serves the evolving demands of students and the workforce.
