Mohammed Othman UAE para athlete is rapidly emerging as a new national star in wheelchair racing, targeting gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. At just 21 years old, Othman was recently honored for his first World Championships medal—a bronze in the men’s T34 wheelchair race—showcasing his ascent as one of the UAE’s most promising athletes.
Othman trained rigorously for five months outside the Emirates, securing a podium finish behind seasoned athletes Chaiwat Rattana (Thailand) and Rheed McCracken (Australia) in New Delhi. His achievements come on the heels of a strong showing at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, where he was the youngest sportsman on the UAE team, finishing fifth in his debut appearance.
He narrowly missed out on further medals, with a fourth-place at the previous World Championships in Kobe, Japan. Despite these challenges, Othman’s determination remains unwavering; he credits hard work, his coach Abdullah Al Mashrawi, and support from the Dubai Club for People of Determination for his progress. Recently recognized by the club and praised by Chairman Thani Juma Berregad, Othman stands as a role model for People of Determination aiming to raise the UAE flag at top international events.
With a legacy following in the footsteps of Paralympic great Mohammed Hammadi, Othman’s focus on teamwork, discipline, and community pride prepares him for even greater successes in global arenas.
