UAE Traffic Alert: Major Highways Hit by Severe Rush-Hour Gridlock

Authorities are advising drivers to use live navigation tools, consider alternative routes or adjust departure times to avoid the worst of the congestion.

UAE traffic alert - Gulf Repost

Motorists travelling into Dubai this Monday morning are facing significant delays due to a morning rush-hour gridlock that has engulfed key highways across the UAE. Real-time traffic monitoring reveals heavy congestion on inbound routes from the northern emirates and within Dubai city limits.

The worst junctions include the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Emirates Road (E611), especially between the Sharjah border and the Muhaisnah / Mirdif areas. On E311, traffic is reduced to a slow stop-and-go pace as queues stretch across multiple lanes. Within Dubai, the major arterial highways—Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and Al Khail Road (E44)—are struggling with heavy vehicle volume, causing delays across downtown, Al Quoz and Al Barsha feeder roads.

Authorities are advising drivers to use live navigation tools, consider alternative routes or adjust departure times to avoid the worst of the congestion. Factors contributing to the gridlock include high commuter inflows from the northern emirates and the strict enforcement of dedicated vehicle lanes in Sharjah, which have altered regular traffic flow.

Travel-planning tip: If your journey involves inbound routes to Dubai from Sharjah, Ajman or Umm Al Quwain, allow for at least an extra 45-60 minutes during peak hours and check for live updates before departure.
