A yellow weather alert has been issued by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) for the UAE, as the country braces for dust storms, rain and falling visibility during the day. The alert remains in effect until around 9 p.m. tonight.
Residents can expect a noticeable drop in visibility, with forecasts warning that it may slip to less than 2,000 metres due to blowing dust. The sky is expected to shift to partly cloudy, becoming more overcast later — especially over the Al Dhafrah region where light to moderate rainfall is possible.
High daytime temperatures are forecast to reach around 36 °C, with a greater cooling trend expected overnight, especially in inland and mountainous areas where lows could fall to 17 °C. Winds will play a major role today — blowing at 10 km/h to 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h in exposed areas, fuelling dust-laden conditions. Humidity levels could climb as high as 85%, increasing the risk of mist or fog after dark.
Marine conditions will remain generally safe: the Arabian Gulf is expected to be moderate to slight, and the Oman Sea slight to moderate, though stronger gusts may cause brief fluctuations.
Drive carefully and reduce speed in dust-storms or low-visibility conditions.
Secure any outdoor objects that might be blown around by strong winds.
For coastal or marine activity, check local advisories before venturing out.
Stay informed of further updates from the NCM as weather conditions evolve.
Stay safe and prepared as the UAE experiences this busy weather period.
