Rain Driving Fines UAE 7 Weather-Related Violations You Must Know

Wet roads and unexpected rainfalls in the UAE can lead to not just dangerous driving conditions but heavy penalties too. Authorities have reminded motorists of seven critical rain driving fines UAE violations that carry fines, black points, and, in some cases, vehicle impoundment.

Among the more common infractions is using a mobile phone to take photos during rain — it leads to a Dh800 fine plus four black points for distracted driving. Another strict rule: gathering near valleys, rivers, dams, or flood-prone areas during heavy rain is punishable by Dh1,000 and six black points, as these areas can become deadly very fast.

Drivers who enter flooded valleys despite warnings face one of the toughest penalties: Dh2,000, 23 black points, and potential impoundment of their vehicle for 60 days. Obstructing rescue or traffic authorities during weather emergencies is also a serious offense, with fines around Dh1,000 and possible removal of vehicle registration.

Speed violations are closely monitored in rainy conditions: exceeding temporary reduced speed limits can incur fines starting from Dh300 and, in more severe cases, rise to Dh3,000 along with black points and impoundment. Other careless behaviors — like driving with hazard lights on while moving or changing lanes without signaling in poor visibility — also come with fines ranging from Dh400 to Dh500.

As seasonal rains continue across the Emirates, staying aware of these rules isn’t just about avoiding penalties — it’s about keeping yourself and others safe on the road. Obeying safe speed limits, avoiding risky areas, and pausing travel in hazardous conditions can help you steer clear of both fines and accidents this season.
