Abu Dhabi has unveiled a transformative Dh42 billion plan to enhance urban mobility and quality of life, marking a significant milestone in the emirate’s “Liveability Strategy.” This initiative, approved by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, aims to improve neighbourhood connectivity and infrastructure across residential areas.
A cornerstone of the strategy is the development of 120 kilometers of pedestrian pathways and 283 kilometers of cycling tracks, promoting sustainable transportation options and encouraging active lifestyles. Public transportation services are also set to receive significant upgrades, ensuring seamless connectivity for residents and visitors alike.
The plan aligns with Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainability, integrating eco-friendly practices and smart technologies to create a more efficient and livable urban environment. These efforts are expected to foster stronger community engagement, reduce traffic congestion, and contribute to the emirate’s long-term environmental goals.
As Abu Dhabi continues to evolve into a model for modern urban living, the Dh42 billion liveability initiative stands as a testament to the leadership’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its residents and setting a global standard for sustainable city development.
