Lieutenant Colonel Ali Faris Al Nuaimi, Head of the Cybercrime Department, emphasized the importance of vigilance against evolving fraud techniques designed to steal personal and financial data. He urged the public never to share sensitive information over the phone or online and to avoid clicking on suspicious links or advertisements without verifying their authenticity.
Lt. Col. Al Nuaimi also cautioned against falling for “too-good-to-be-true” offers, which are often used by scammers to exploit unsuspecting victims. He emphasized that awareness is the first line of defense: “Always stay alert and aware.” The Abu Dhabi Police encourage residents to report any suspicious calls, messages, or online activity through official channels to combat cybercrime effectively.
Additionally, ongoing awareness campaigns like “Be Cautious” run in collaboration with government and banking partners to educate the public on the nature of contemporary scams, including phishing, fake prize notifications, and fraudulent e-commerce sites. Residents are advised to remain cautious, treat unsolicited offers skeptically, and promptly report any fraud attempts to enhance community cybersecurity.
