Abu Dhabi continues its strong commitment to child safety in sports through a virtual workshop organized by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) titled “Child-Friendly Justice and Child Protection Policy in Sports Institutions”, launched as part of the Year of Community 2025 initiatives.
Held on the Abu Dhabi Judicial Academy’s virtual platform, the workshop attracted diverse participants from sports bodies, government agencies, childhood experts, and educators across the UAE and beyond.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of child protection policies and promote child-friendly justice principles in sports environments, where children regularly interact with technical and administrative personnel. The discussions covered legal and procedural frameworks aligned with the Federal Law on Child Rights and relevant international conventions.
Speakers highlighted crucial areas including respecting minors’ privacy, ensuring children’s active involvement in shaping protection procedures, training personnel to manage abuse or neglect cases, and fostering a culture of safety within families and society.
Key recommendations advocated for rigorous background checks of employees and volunteers working with children, creation of a unified electronic platform for confidential reporting and digital evidence preservation, and simplified procedural guides accommodating children’s age and psychological needs during testimonies.
This event builds on ADJD’s “Child-Friendly Justice” programme launched in 2021, which includes child-sensitive investigative spaces, ongoing specialist training, and strengthened partnerships with national and international institutions to uphold children’s rights.
