A tragic collision in Rajasthan’s Barmer district claimed the lives of four friends when their car burst into flames after colliding head-on with a trailer early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. near Sada village, along the highway under the Sindhari police jurisdiction.
The victims, all traveling in a Scorpio SUV, were returning from Sindhari after work when their vehicle struck an oncoming trailer roughly 30 km from their destination. The force of the collision caused the car to ignite instantly, trapping occupants inside in the ensuing blaze.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, extinguished the fire, and cleared the wreckage, restoring traffic flow within an hour. Tragically, four men died on the spot due to severe burns. A fifth individual, the driver Dilip Singh, survived but is in critical condition and being treated at a local hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Mohan Singh (35), Shambhu Singh (20), Pancharam (22), and Prakash (28). They hailed from Dabar village in Gudamalani tehsil and had traveled together for work. The tragedy has intensified calls from local communities and families for stricter road safety measures and accountability in vehicle inspections.
Authorities are investigating the collision’s cause, focusing on speed, vehicle condition, and highway safety protocols. Meanwhile, grief grips the affected villages, and demands are rising for improved highway enforcement and better emergency response systems in the region.
