In recent UAE labour court rulings, employees have successfully secured UAE unpaid salary compensation after being denied wages, benefits, or end-of-service entitlements. One notable judgment saw an Indian civil engineer awarded Dh475,555 after 19 months of unpaid salary plus final settlement and gratuity when his employer refused to settle his dues. The court emphasised that workers should not be penalised when contracts are honoured but payments are delayed. In another case, an employee who worked for six months without salary was awarded Dh50,930 including back wages, notice-period compensation, unused leave, and a return flight ticket to his home country. These rulings reflect how UAE law, particularly the Labour Law and Ministry judgements, protect employees’ rights to fair treatment and timely payments. Courts are consistently enforcing limits like one-year windows for filing claims, requiring employers to maintain clear payroll records, and rejecting claims from those who fail to provide valid evidence. Together, these decisions send a strong message: when employers violate payment obligations, UAE courts ensure workers get justice through UAE unpaid salary compensation.
