Alex Eala new career-high WTA ranking is making headlines as the 20-year-old Filipina tennis star reaches No. 53 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) live rankings, surpassing her previous best of No. 54. This milestone follows her historic victory at the 2025 Guadalajara 125 Open, marking her as the first Filipino to claim a WTA 125 singles title.
Eala has built on this momentum with consistent performances at subsequent WTA events, steadily climbing the global rankings. Trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain and originating from Quezon City, Eala continues to be the highest-ranked Filipino player in WTA history and a rising contender on the world tennis stage.
She now heads into the 2025 Guangzhou Open with added confidence, competing in both singles and doubles. In singles, she faces American Claire Liu in the opening round, while in doubles she partners with Ukraine’s Nadiia Kichenok, aiming for a strong showing.
