This marks a key milestone for Sharjah’s upstream ambitions. SNOC together with its partners had earlier discovered the Hedebah-01 well.

Sharjah’s on-shore energy sector has reached another milestone as Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) announced a successful test of its second well at the Hedebah Gas Field. The well, named Hedebah-02, was drilled to a depth of 13,200 feet and has delivered highly promising results, marking a major advancement in the emirate’s oil and gas development plans.
This new success strengthens Sharjah’s position as a key energy contributor within the UAE and reinforces its long-term commitment to sustainable and efficient exploration. The first well, Hedebah-01, had already produced gas and condensate from the Thamama formation, which was brought into production within ten months of discovery. The second successful test further validates the Sharjah on-shore gas discovery potential in the Hedebah field.
SNOC CEO Khamis Al Mazrouei called the achievement “an important milestone that enhances Sharjah’s energy resilience and future self-sufficiency.” He emphasised the company’s dedication to operational excellence and sustainable growth, ensuring the emirate remains a reliable contributor to the UAE’s overall energy mix.
Technical teams across SNOC’s engineering, geology, and operations departments worked in close coordination to achieve this outcome. Masoud Al Hamadi, SNOC’s Upstream Director, praised the teamwork that led to the successful drilling and testing of Hedebah-02, adding that the result sets a strong foundation for future production operations.
The well’s performance confirms additional gas-bearing zones and expands understanding of the Hedebah structure. Production from this site will help secure local gas supplies and support industrial and residential demand across the Northern Emirates.
Looking forward, SNOC plans to continue appraising and drilling in the area to unlock further reserves. The Sharjah on-shore gas discovery at Hedebah marks another positive step toward strengthening domestic energy independence and positioning Sharjah as a leader in regional hydrocarbon development.
