Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a major upgrade to the nol Pay app, giving parents a powerful new way to manage their children’s nol cards. The update includes a “Family Card Management” feature that allows parents to link, monitor, and top up their children’s nol cards in real time.
Using the app, parents can scan or enter their child’s nol tag ID to connect it to their own account. Once linked, they get a full overview of the child’s card balance, can add funds instantly, and even renew the card when needed — all from their phone.
But the enhancements don’t stop there. The nol card itself now works like a digital wallet, not just for metro, tram, and bus rides. It can be used for everyday purchases at partner stores, expanding its role beyond public transport.
Student nol cards receive special benefits, including a 50 percent discount on bus, tram, and metro fares. The new system also supports a “Study in Dubai – nol ISIC” card, combining transport benefits with a globally recognised student ID and discounts in over 130 countries.
RTA says the upgraded nol Pay app aligns with Dubai’s push toward a cashless mobility ecosystem. The app now supports automatic top-up, detailed trip statements, and alerts when balances are low or when cards need renewal.
The family management capability also offers added protection — parents can set top-up limits and suspend a lost or misplaced nol card directly through the app.
This upgrade is part of a bigger modernization of the nol system. The RTA now allows users to register their card to an account, create digital passbooks, and launch auto-recharge options, making nol simpler and smarter for everyone.
For many families, the changes mean more control and peace of mind — knowing their children’s travel is safe, topped up, and under watch. The nol Pay upgrade is a key step forward in making public transport both more accessible and family-friendly.
