A disturbing incident occurred at Raffles Hospital in Singapore when a 34-year-old Indian nurse, Elipe Siva Nagu, used a ‘disinfection’ excuse to molest a male visitor. The victim had entered a patient toilet around 7:30 pm on June 18 when the nurse looked inside. Claiming to ‘disinfect’ the visitor, the nurse applied soap to his hand and proceeded to molest him. The victim, shocked and frozen, did not react immediately but later reported the assault.

The incident was reported on June 21, and the nurse was arrested two days later. He was subsequently suspended from his duties at Raffles Hospital. On October 24, the court sentenced Elipe Siva Nagu to one year and two months in jail and two strokes of the cane for molestation. The court described his actions as a serious breach of trust by a healthcare professional.
