UAE weather alert rain has been issued as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts unsettled conditions from a surface and upper-air low-pressure system affecting the country. Skies will turn partly cloudy to cloudy, with convective clouds bringing scattered showers, stronger winds and hazardous sea conditions over the coming days.
Today and Sunday: Clouds, rain and strong winds
-
Skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with convective clouds forming over northern and eastern areas, leading to brief but sometimes intense showers in scattered locations.
-
Winds will be moderate to fresh, becoming strong near cloud formations, raising dust and sand and reducing visibility in open and inland areas.
-
The sea will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and rough to moderate in the Oman Sea, prompting a marine advisory to avoid swimming, diving and small-boat activities.
-
On Sunday, low clouds are expected over islands and some coastal and western areas, with a chance of rain near the coast, slightly higher daytime temperatures and increasing night-time humidity.
Monday–Wednesday: Gradual improvement but lingering risks
-
From Monday, conditions are expected to stabilise gradually, with skies remaining partly cloudy and low clouds at times over islands and western regions.
-
Winds will shift from northeasterly to southeasterly, staying light to moderate but occasionally freshening, while sea conditions improve from rough to moderate and then slight by midweek.
-
Mist may form over some internal western areas during late nights and early mornings by Tuesday night and Wednesday, which can further reduce visibility on roads.
Safety advice for residents and motorists
-
Avoid non-essential travel during periods of heavy rain, dust or low visibility; if driving is necessary, reduce speed, keep a safe distance and use low-beam headlights.
-
Stay away from flooded underpasses, wadis and waterlogged areas, as conditions can worsen quickly with convective showers and gusty winds.
-
Postpone marine activities until official advisories indicate safer sea conditions, and always check the latest bulletins before heading out.
How to stay informed
-
Follow official weather updates and alerts from recognised UAE authorities through their apps, websites and verified social media channels.
-
Do not rely on or spread rumours or unverified messages about weather or road closures.
-
Plan travel and outdoor activities with flexibility, especially along coasts and in northern and eastern regions where convective clouds and rain are more likely.
