Kundu’s marathon innings broke the previous record held by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored 171 runs against the UAE earlier in the same tournament. After walking in following Suryavanshi’s dismissal, Kundu took charge immediately. His timing, placement, and confidence dominated the Malaysian bowling attack from ball one. He forged an imposing 209-run partnership with Gujarat’s Vedant Trivedi, who played a steady hand with 90 off 106 balls. Kundu later accelerated the innings with Kanishk Chouhan, smashing 87 runs in just 36 deliveries together to help India post a mammoth 408 for seven in their 50 overs.

Under the leadership of Ayush Mhatre, India’s Under-19 squad continued their dominant run in the tournament.
