A Dubai civil court has uncovered a Dh5.2 million asset hiding scheme involving a woman and several members of her family, ruling that they colluded to conceal her wealth and obstruct enforcement of a previous judgment issued against her.

Investigations showed that the woman transferred apartments, luxury vehicles and special number plates to her mother, sister and brothers. The court determined that these transfers were not legitimate transactions but were strategically made to prevent creditors from accessing her assets.

The judgment stated that the coordinated transfers constituted a wrongful act under Dubai’s Civil Transactions Law, noting that the family knowingly participated in shielding the woman’s wealth. As a result, the claimant was deprived of the financial compensation legally owed to him.

The court ordered the woman and her relatives to pay Dh100,000 in compensation, along with 5 percent annual interest starting from the date of final judgment. They were also directed to cover court fees and legal expenses.

The ruling sends a clear message that attempts to hide wealth through relatives will not protect debtors from legal accountability. Courts will thoroughly examine suspicious asset transfers, even within families, to ensure justice is upheld.
